Scranton’s Plan U.S. National Rebound

Indianapolis, IN - For any professional and or sportsman drag racer, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals holds a golden spot. A win at the most prestigious NHRA Powerade event can make any racing season. This holds true for Matt Scranton and his Tial Sport team as they roll into the fabled racing facility known as O’Rielly Raceway Park.

"At the beginning of 2007 we had hoped to have the power to qualify by the time we rolled into Indy. But we exceeded that goal far in advance when we made the show in our debut at the Gatornationals" said Matt Scranton.

The Gatornationals, also a Mac Tools sponsored event, turned out to be a near perfect weekend as the team not only made the field but also advanced to the semi final round of eliminations.

"We hope history will repeat itself as we run another Mac Tools sponsored event"

The team had originally hoped to run its own engine program but after early arrangements ended up renting engines from KB Racing. This means horsepower is no problem.

:Our original goal was to rent a motor for Indy if our own program was not producing what we felt it should be by the time the U.S. Nationals rolled around."

While the team is still learning it’s way around the pro stock class they are no small threat to make the field at this weekend’s event.

"We have learned a lot and we plan to put all of that to good use this weekend" explained Scranton. "We know we have the power, we just need to harness it properly and we should have no trouble getting into the show. Once that goal is accomplished we will proceed from that point."

SBR is also proud to head into the U.S. Nationals with new sponsor, Mickey Thompson.

"Mickey Thompson is no stranger to NHRA Pro Stock Racing, having dominated the Pro Stock Motorcycle Racing category for many years", said Ken Warner, V.P. Sales & Marketing for Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels. "It is truly an honor for us to have this opportunity to work closely with Matt Scranton and his team to experience this advanced level of NHRA Pro Stock Racing at its best."

Keep an eye on this team. Their performance may be a surprise to some but in reality, veteran driver and multi time champion Scranton’s determination is one of the largest threats that the pro stock field will face. This weekend’s event will provide solid proof of how serious he is at being a competitive pro stock driver.
