Scranton Continues Pro Stock Learning Curve HRA Pro Stock can have it's ups and downs for the most seasoned of race teams. With the level of competition in the class it is not unusual to see a team struggle for a period of time before making the show for the first time. For Matt Scranton and his Scranton Bros / Tial Sport team, the opposite has been true. In their debut at the Gatornationals earlier this year, Scranton made the semi finals before falling to Greg Anderson. Since that time the team has run two more national events. After losing two qualifying sessions in Houston due to rain SBR made the decision to come out on their first qualifying pass with a tune up that could not only allow them to get into the show but also stay in during the course of the weekend. "We came out in Atlanta with our car ready to run as hard as we felt possible for the track conditions" explained Matt Scranton. Unfortunately a best run of 6.732 at a speed of 205.01 MPH, the Tial Sport sponsored GTO was unable to make the 16 car field. "We are still learning as we go with this new car. It is like starting in racing for the first time again. We are having to learn to tune the car based on different track conditions and discover what the car wants. This was our first time running in these types of conditions" All in all the team was pleased with the weekend and continues to gather more data. "We are committed to making this deal work. We know we have the power to qualify and we feel we will do so several times before the season is over." With more and more experience under their belt the Scranton's are growing in knowledge and in confidence in their ability to take care of business with their new Pro Stocker. While the learning curve is steep, the Scranton Brothers Racing team is rising to the challenge and is sure to make some noise among the NHRA Pro Stock class before the end of 2007. Keep an eye out for this up and coming team. |
